Seahawks punter Jon Ryan attends Regina Kinsmen dinner
NFL player says it feels 'pretty special' to give back to his home city and province
While many eyes were on the hockey legends in Saskatoon on Friday, there were also some sports celebrities in Regina.
Seattle Seahawks punter Jon Ryan was one of the athletes at the Queen City Kinsmen's Sports Celebrity Dinner and Auction.
"I've taken so much from this city and from this province so there's no way I could ever possibly repay those debts," said Ryan, who is originally from Regina.
"To be able to come back here tonight and give back a little bit is pretty special for me."
Ryan also said he was "hesitant" about this homecoming so soon after the Seahawks' Super Bowl loss, however, in the end he was happy he made the trip.
"I'm glad I did because the people here have been so supportive and been so good to me just in the last day that I've been back," said Ryan. "I'm so glad I came."
The money raised at the event went to the Huddle Up Foundation.
