School bus service on in Saskatoon, off in Regina

School bus service is set to return to the streets of Saskatoon on Thursday, but officials in Regina say they are not yet ready to venture into snow-clogged neighbourhoods.

School bus service is set to return to the streets of Saskatoon on Thursday, but officials in Regina say they are not yet ready to venture into snow-clogged neighbourhoods.

The buses in Saskatchewan's two largest cities have not been running since the big storm on the weekend.

Snow clearing efforts have taken several days to reach some areas.

In Saskatoon, school bus officials say they are confident the roads will be OK for normal service.

In Regina, however, the buses will remain parked for a fourth day.

Some school buses did try out the roads on Wednesday, and got stuck.

Officials have also raised concerns about picking up children in areas where large accumulations of snow may affect safety.

Snow clearing crews in both cities continue to clear streets on a priority basis.
