Canadian adventurers and those who are fond of the outdoors are hoping to explore Canada in a new competition.

The Woods Canada's Greatest Explorer Competition will put Canadians to the test in a series of outdoor challenges to earn the title of Woods Canada's Greatest Explorer and a $25,000 grand prize.

The competition will be filmed for a web series that will hosted by Saskatchewan native and tornado hunter Ricky Forbes.

When Forbes isn't storm chasing, he's travelling Canada in search of adventures, ice climbing, rock climbing, and hiking. He says he's excited to be a part of Woods Canada's Greatest Explorer Competition and called it a dream job.

"They are going to pit 12 of the best adventurers in Canada against each other in rigorous outdoor challenges in some of the most beautiful spots in Canada over the course of a month," said Forbes.

"It's going to take some survival skills, some outdoor skills and some other challenges where it's going to take creativity and thinking on your feet."

Each challenge will be judged and competitors will be eliminated each round. The contest winner will be declared on the day of the final challenge.

Woods Canada narrowed down the entries from people across the country to 25 applicants. They want Canada to help them choose the 12 contestants.

The explorers, including two from Saskatchewan, are hoping to earn your votes by May 11 to compete in the adventure series.

The 12 winners will be announced May 17 and the competition will begin.
