Effective Wednesday minimum wage increases from $10 to $10.20 an hour

Saskatchewan's minimum wage is going up.

Starting today it will rise from $10 to $10.20 per hour. That means a worker that puts in a 40-hour work week will make about $8 more a week.

Seven years ago the minimum wage was $7.95. It has jumped six times since.

The province says increases will be announced on or before June 30 every year and take effect Oct. 1 of the same year.

Provincial Comparison

Saskatchewan and Alberta have the second lowest minimum wage in the country. Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories and New Brunswick have a minimum wage of $10 an hour.
