Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall will participate by teleconference in an upcoming premiers' meeting, known as the Council of the Federation.

The council meets twice a year and its main function is to present a united front among the 13 provinces and territories when dealing with the federal government.

The next meeting is a one-day gathering, in Ottawa, set for Friday.

Wall will be joining the meeting by phone. His office noted he has done so before.

Alberta Premier Jim Prentice will be represented at the meeting by that province's municipal affairs minister. Prentice's office said the Alberta premier is currently preoccupied with an upcoming provincial budget.
