Roughriders see team shuffle on CFL free agency day
Ryan Smith heads to Winnipeg, Dylan Ainsworth and Chris Best get resigned
Tuesday was free agency day in the CFL, and 150 players who signed through the 2015 season had their contracts officially expire and become up for grabs.
During the shuffle, some Roughriders have been signed to other teams, while others have joined the green and white.
Dylan Ainsworth resigned with the Riders early on in the day before becoming a free agent. He said it's good going into the off-season with a deal.
"I think everyone kind of wants to see what their value is on the open market, and I think it's a pretty busy market this year as well, so I'm almost glad I didn't have to see what was going to happen there," Ainsworth said.
Chris Jones, Roughriders head coach and general manager, said so far they've accomplished what they needed to on free agency day.
"We know what we need as a football team. We know what areas we need to target and improve in. We feel like we did that," Jones said.
