The Saskatchewan Roughriders acquired Canadian defensive tackle Gregory Alexandre in a trade with the Edmonton Eskimos on Monday.

In exchange for Alexandre, the Riders sent Canadian linebacker Alex Ogbongbemiga to Edmonton. The 23-year-old Ogbongbemiga was drafted by Saskatchewan this year in the fifth round of the CFL Draft.

Alexandre, 31, spent the past three season with the Eskimos, including last year's Grey Cup championship squad then led by current Saskatchewan head coach Chris Jones.

The University of Montreal product has played in just one game with Edmonton so far this season. Alexandre's best season statistically came in 2014 when he recorded 14 tackles and five quarterback sacks.

Saskatchewan also released kicker Johnny Mark just days after picking him up hours before their game against Calgary on Thursday.

Mark, who was making his CFL regular season debut, hit three of four field goal attempts in a 35-15 loss to the Stampeders.

As of Monday, the Riders had zero kickers on its active roster. However, it's possible rookie kicker Quinn Van Gylswyk will be taken off the six-game injured list.

Regular starting kicker Tyler Crapigna was added to the six-game injured list last week.
