Regina turns to parking education amid ticket complaints
Parking ambassadors to patrol Regina's downtown
The people who ticket your parked car in downtown Regina are turning to a more diplomatic approach. The city is turning some of its parking enforcers into parking ambassadors.
The city says it has received a large number of questions and concerns about parking rules in downtown Regina. Now it wants to focus more on education than just enforcement. Starting tomorrow, the ambassadors will answer parking questions and pass out information to drivers.
The ambassadors will be on the streets to help ensure parking spaces turn over quickly, according to the city.
The program is expected to continue for up to six months, depending on if it's successful.
Parking enforcement — and tickets — will continue as normal.
Mayor Michael Fougere will be addressing the new parking program on Tuesday.
