As work heats up on Regina's new stadium, motorists on Elphinstone Street are going to feel the squeeze.

Starting Monday, May 4, southbound traffic on Elphinstone between 10th Avenue and North Railway Street will be reduced to one lane for stadium construction.

The city says the room is needed to setup a large portable crane to unload large steel structures from semi-trucks.

The road restriction is expected to be in place for five months.

The west sidewalk will be closed, so pedestrians will have to use the east sidewalk.

The $278 million project will be the new Mosaic Stadium, a future home for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, music acts and other events.
