Regina's Canada Day festivities to go on as scheduled
Health region reminds people to be mindful of smoke exposure, especially for children and elderly
Not even smoke from the province's wildfires can stop Regina from celebrating Canada Day.
Organizers say all events will go on as scheduled in Wascana Park.
The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region said people should be mindful of their exposure to the smoke and limit time outside for children and the elderly.
Events begin around 11:30 a.m. CST with a 21-gun salute on Walter Scott Way. Beer gardens and the main stage will be open all day. The opening ceremonies are kicking off there at 11:50 a.m.
Kids activities are set to begin around 1 p.m. at the community and family stage. It includes a meet-and-greet with storybook princesses, demonstrations from the Science Centre, and aboriginal and Ukrainian dancing.
Fireworks will be set off as scheduled around 10:30 p.m. from Willow Island.
