The Regina Pats have a new head coach — assistant coach Malcolm Cameron has been named bench boss of the Western Hockey League team.
He replaces Pat Conacher, who resigned April 26 after two seasons, the team announced Wednesday.
Conacher, who had a year left on his three-year contract, thanked the team, fans and the city.
"It has been a great two years for my wife Susan and I," Conacher said in a Pats news release.
"I wish nothing but health and success for the Pats and their fans now and in the future."
Before joining the Pats, Conacher was a head coach in the American Hockey League for three years.
The Pats had 25 wins and 38 losses in the 2012-2013 season, finishing second last in their division.
