Regina-born swimmer Morgan Bird has impressive showing at Parapan Am games
Bird has a chance to win a third medal in the women's 100-metre freestyle S8
Morgan Bird started swimming as physiotherapy for her cerebral palsy. It quickly turned into her passion. Now, she has the chance to win a third gold medal at the Parapan Am Games.
"I started when I was eleven years old, and I just grew to love it so much that I kept with it, and I still love it," Bird told CBC Saskatchewan's The Afternoon Edition.
On Thursday, Aug 13, Bird will compete in the women's 100-metre freestyle S8. She's already won two gold medals in swimming, on Aug 9.
"It was spectacular," she said on The Afternoon Edition. "The feeling is nothing like I've ever felt before just because it was on home soil. Being able to feel the energy from the crowd and knowing that they have your back and are supporting you and screaming and yelling for you to touch the wall first is just surreal."
Before Bird's next race she'll likely be listening to '80s music, the genre that gets her pumped up. She will most likely be listening to Bon Jovi and Billy Joel.
