Real or fake? The Christmas tree debate continues
One tradition around the holidays, for many, is decorating a Christmas tree. That can lead to some discussion over real versus artificial trees.
Many retailers offer both.
At Rona, employee Judith Davies is on hand to assist shoppers with their selection.
Davis said many customers say they like the smell of a natural tree, but she is selling more and more fake trees every year.
"The fake ones are actually starting to change with their textures. So they're actually more real-like," Davies told CBC News Tuesday. "Before they kind of had the sticks sticking out of them. They always looked very fake. Now they're kind of hinged branches, so they're fuller."
Davies noted that artificial trees are often a good choice for people with allergies. She also pointed that real trees can generate some work, dealing with fallen needles.
