Melfort RCMP are investigating the death of a man, and they say it may be linked to dangerous counterfeit drugs.

On Friday, Melfort RCMP responded to a sudden death complaint at around 2 p.m. CST in the Pleasantdale area, about 35 kilometres south of Melfort, Sask.

An initial investigation found fake OxyContin may be related to the death, but the investigation is ongoing.

Police are warning people to be aware that counterfeit OxyContin could be in the area. The drug, which often contains lethal doses of Fentanyl, has already been linked to several deaths in Saskatchewan this year.
