Ordering lab tests will also be allowed under proposed legal amendment

A bill aimed at expanding the role of pharmacists has been introduced to the Saskatchewan Legislature.

The change would allow pharmacists to administer vaccinations and order lab tests.

Administering things like flu shots and vitamin B12 injections would be allowed.

This follows some changes introduced a few years ago that expanded their ability to prescribe medicine for minor illnesses.

There are approximately 1,400 pharmacists practising in Saskatchewan.
