Profits are down at SaskGaming, the Saskatchewan Crown corporation that runs casinos in Regina and Moose Jaw.

According to the annual report released Monday, SaskGaming had net income of $41.1 million in 2013, down from $52.6 million in 2012.

Part of the profit, $20.5 million, goes to First Nations and other community groups.

Another $16.4 million goes to the Crown Investments Corporation.

The minister responsible for SaskGaming, Don McMorris, said profits being down is a reflection of the fact that Saskatchewan's gaming industry is in a "mature" phase, a trend that's also happening across Canada.

However, it's still a strong business generating substantial profits that make a positive impact in Saskatchewan, he said.

The government's casinos were in the news in recent months after the Federations of Saskatchewan Indian Nations had been in preliminary talks to buy them.

However, Premier Brad Wall said without the support of the opposition, the casinos are not for sale.
