Photo radar operating in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan's new photo radar cameras are up and running beginning today, at locations around the province. 

The cameras are being used on busy highways around Saskatoon, Regina and Moose Jaw as part of a two-year pilot program to try to reduce speeding in those areas. 

Cameras will begin operating in school zones in those same three cities later this week.

For the first two months, drivers caught speeding by the cameras will be mailed a warning letter rather than a ticket. 

All of the areas where the cameras are operating will have signs reminding drivers to slow down.

Here are the five areas where cameras are now operating:

• Highway 12 at Martensville.
• Circle Drive in Saskatoon.
• Highway 1 east between the Pilot Butte turnoff and White City.
• Ring Road in Regina.
• Highway 1 and 9th Ave in Moose Jaw.

 SGI says it will remind drivers when the two months of warning letters is set to end and ticketing will begin.
