The Pasqua First Nation has tentatively agreed to a $20-million compensation deal with the federal and provincial governments, to settle claims relating to flooding in the Qu'Appelle Lakes chain.
The deal must be ratified by band members, who have until September to vote on the package.
If the deal is approved, the Pasqua First Nation would be the fifth of eight First Nations to reach a settlement.
The First Nations have complained for years that a series of dams on lakes in the area has led to annual flooding of First Nations land.
