One Smith on, one Smith off: Roughriders get Ryan back, Taj out
Chamblin offers very few details about the end of Taj Smith's season
At a time when injuries are a major problem for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, another player is simply "done for the year" according to Corey Chamblin.
Taj Smith will not play again this season, at least not with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
"We made a decision with Taj, you know, he wasn't at his fullest so we shut Taj down," Chamblin said. "There's some other guys that kind of moved ahead of him so Taj will be done for the year."
When asked if it was due to injury, Chamblin said, "No, just done for the year." Smith still appears on the team's roster and Chamblin would not say whether he had been released or suspended.
"Taj is still a part of this family," he said. "The things that he's done, it's no negative there, but just moving forward there's some other guys who had a little bit of shine to them and it's just about progressing."

One move that made Taj Smith expendable is the return of week two star Ryan Smith.
Despite missing the past two games, Ryan Smith has hauled in 11 catches for 251 yards and two touchdowns this season.
The Riders also brought in a new face to try and battle their injury woes.
American defensive back Alex Suber was signed on Wednesday. Suber spent four season in Winnipeg before joining Toronto last season.
The team also released two players, linebacker Akwasi Antwi and defensive back Marrio Norman.
