RCMP in Saskatchewan have announced new sex-related charges involving minors against former Mountie Alan John Davidson.

Davidson, 59, was already facing eight sex-related charges stemming from his years as a youth coach in B.C.

Now, he faces three more charges from his time in Saskatchewan. The charges are sexual assault, with the alleged victims being boys under 18 from the Yorkton area.

The boys came into contact with Davidson through his work as a member of the RCMP, his coaching responsibilities with local hockey teams or general community activities, the RCMP told reporters at a Regina news conference on Friday.

Davidson served in a number of RCMP detachments in Saskatchewan and lived in Regina, CoronachLloydminster, Yorkton and North Battleford between 1982 and 1996.

It's alleged the sexual assaults in Saskatchewan happened between 1987 and 1991.

Inspector Jennifer Ebert of the RCMP says there have been hundreds of interviews and dozens of investigators involved in laying the charges.

"This is a difficult thing for victims to come forward with, and we're grateful for those who have had the courage to come forward to date," Ebert said.

She also said there may be more victims.

"It may have occurred in each of those communities and there may be victims in those communities. And that's why we're trying to refresh the public's memory with pictures of him from that time," Ebert said.

Davidson was arrested and charged a year ago with eight counts of indecent assault that allegedly happened in the 1970s and '80s while he was a minor hockey and baseball coach in B.C.

Police say those alleged B.C. offences happened before he joined the police force.

Police say the investigation is still open and there could be more alleged victims who haven't stepped forward yet.

They've provided a timeline of where Davidson lived to assist possible witnesses:
