The NDP says, if elected on Nov. 7, it will build a $50 million interchange east of Regina on Highway 1.

The overpass would service traffic coming from White City, Emerald Park and Pilot Butte.

The party said the project would benefit commercial traffic and improve safety on one of the busiest highway stretches in the province.

The project is part of a highways commitment that also includes twinning the route from Regina to the U.S. border through Estevan, and Highway 10 from Balgonie to Yorkton.

The party said $35 million of the cost of the interchange would come from provincial coffers. It expects Ottawa to kick in the other $15 million.
