Minimum wage rises to $10.20/hour in October
Labour relations minister says increase will give low-income workers more disposable income
Saskatchewan's minimum wage is going up 20 cents an hour — to $10.20.
The Saskatchewan government said Monday it will make the change effective Oct. 1.
Labour Relations Minister Don Morgan said the increase will give minimum wage earners more disposable income and improve their standard of living.
For a minimum wage employee who puts in 40 hours a week, the increase works out to $8 a week.
The government said future changes to the minimum wage will be indexed to inflation and the average wage.
Increases will be announced on or before June 30 of each year, with that change coming into effect on October 1 of the same year, the province said in a news release.
