'I have a lot of passion,' Michael Fougere launches re-election bid
Fougere seeks second term in mayor's chair
Incumbent Michael Fougere has formally launched his bid for another term as mayor of Regina.
"I have a lot of passion and love for our city," Fougere said Friday.
"I really want to continue the job at hand. I think the success we've had over the past four years is indicative of the kind of leadership I want to bring for the next four years."
Fougere said he'll unveil a campaign platform in the coming weeks but hinted he will address a variety of areas.
"I think there are so many opportunities for us to grow and prosper as a city in so many ways ... not just in terms of economics and bricks and mortars but in terms of homelessness and our arts community, our cultural plan," he said.
Voting day for municipal elections is Oct. 26.
Fougere won election to the mayor's chair in 2012 following several years as a member of council.
His professional background is in the construction industry.
