Meet your first 5 Future 40 winners of 2015

Your CBC Future 40 winners are...

CBC Saskatchewan is unveiling this year's winners all week on radio, TV and online

The nominations came flooding in this past week and now the jury has reached a verdict.

From Monday to Thursday, CBC Saskatchewan is announcing five winners each morning and evening. 

Listen to Saskatoon Morning in Saskatoon and The Morning Edition across the province at 8:15 a.m. CST for the first batch of winners. Then, tune in to the supper hour news at 6:15 p.m. for the next round.

And, of course, make sure to check cbc.ca/sask and cbc.ca/future40 at any time to keep up to date with the announcements. 

Here are your first five Future 40 winners of 2015.

Devon Fiddler

Age: 26

Category: Business and Entrepreneurship

Devon is a Cree woman from Waterhen Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan. She considers herself a social entrepreneur and is the founder of SheNative Goods Inc., a brand of handbags and accessories that seeks to empower indigenous women and girls.

Devon has previously received recognition in such business planning competitions as the Aboriginal Youth Idea Challenge, the CBC Boom Box Competition and the Saskatchewan Business Challenge.

Haris Khan

Age: 26

Category: Arts, Culture and Entertainment

Haris Khan is a University of Regina student and stand-up comedian. He is the founder of the Stand Up for Charity group, which has raised money for charitable organizations in Saskatchewan such as the Regina Humane Society and the Terry Fox Foundation.

Haris recently wrapped up his first international comedy tour, which began in Saskatchewan last October and just wrapped up in Dubai.

Michael Dawson

Age: 37

Category: Arts, Culture and Entertainment

Michael Dawson is the lyricist and a multi-instrumentalist with Regina indie pop band Library Voices. He has also worked as the artistic director of The Cultural Exchange venue as well as for the Gateway Music Festival.

Most recently, Michael was named SaskMusic's executive director. 

Dylan Morin

Age: 23

Category: Community Leadership, Social Activism and Volunteerism

Dylan Morin is a student and ambassador at the University of Regina as well as a Special Olympics athlete in bowling and track and field. He is passionate about enhancing the quality of life for other individuals with disabilities as well as advocating for independence.

Dylan is also involved in initiatives such as the Hillsdale Baptist Church Friendship Club, the Next Chapter Book Club and the Best Buddies program, which aims to make communities more inclusive for people with intellectual disabilities.

Jaimee Marks

Age: 38

Category: Community Leadership

Jaimee Marks is a health and fitness professional. She began her career as a personal trainer and soon opened up her own studio. She is also a certified tobacco cessation specialist and is an expert in this field. Her work bridges the gap between Western medicine and Indigenous beliefs.

Not only does Jaimee help communities quit smoking, she also helps communities make healthy lifestyle choices.
