Regina police lay 1st-degree murder charge in death of man found near downtown Tuesday

Regina police have laid a murder charge in the death of a man found Tuesday near the city's downtown core.
Dennis Hotomanie, 39, is charged with first-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in Regina provincial court on Thursday.
Officers were called to the scene near a business in the 1500 block of 12th Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. CST on Tuesday, according to a news release.
Upon arrival, they found an unconscious 46-year-old man. He was declared dead on scene.
The victim's name was not released.

Carmichael Outreach, a non-profit organization near where the man as found, released a statement on Wednesday.
"We are deeply saddened by the recent incident that has impacted our community. This heartbreaking event has left us all in shock and mourning, and our hearts go out to everyone affected, especially the grieving family."
