Treacherous sidewalk ice hidden under dusting of snow

Pedestrians might want to watch out for treacherous conditions on Saskatchewan sidewalks Monday morning.

Slippery conditions reported in Regina, Saskatoon

It looks like a pedestrian took a slide here on an icy sidewalk in Regina early Monday morning. Ice-covered walks were everywhere after a mild weekend, but the hazardous spots were hard to see due to a dusting of snow. (CBC)

Pedestrians might want to watch out for treacherous conditions on Saskatchewan sidewalks Monday morning.

Ice-covered walks were reported in both Regina and Saskatoon in the pre-dawn hours — and what made it particularly hazardous was a light dusting of snow covering up the slick surfaces.

Workers on skid-steer vehicles were busy in Regina's Wascana Park at 6 a.m. CST, but there were lots of slippery spots in front of people's homes.

In Saskatoon, there's a bylaw requiring residents to clear ice and snow from their sidewalks.
