Heather Abbey

Heather Abbey is a mother and businesswoman from Little Pine First Nation. She placed in nine business competitions to start her businesses, and is quick to credit her peers and mentees as her driving force.

"If you're one of the first to do something; to have an opportunity to break down a barrier, then it's your responsibility to reach out and help those coming up behind you."

Abbey has benefited from mentorship to start her businesses. As the owner of ShopIndig.ca, an online aboriginal marketplace, and clothing line Kiowa Sage Apparel, she has flourished under the mentorship of Neechie Gears Kendal Netmaker, and Manitoba Mukluks co-founder Josh Fine. She gives back by mentoring in two national aboriginal entrepreneurship programs, and created her own aboriginal business startup competition.

Heather is opening her first ShopIndig store in The Centre March 2016.
