Graham James, convicted sex abuser, faces new charge in Swift Current court
Former junior hockey coach convicted of sexually assaulting ex-NHL players Theoren Fleury, Sheldon Kennedy
Convicted sex offender and former junior hockey coach Graham James is facing another criminal charge in Saskatchewan.
He's accused of one count of repeated sexual assaults.
RCMP said Monday that they received a complaint about James on Sept. 27, 2013, alleging sexual assaults between 1990 and 1991. RCMP said the complaint came from a former player of the Swift Current Bronco hockey club. At the time of the alleged assault, James was coaching the team.
According to the Crown prosecutor on the case, James is still serving a prison sentence, but the prosecutor did not say where.
James's lawyer appeared for his client Monday morning in Swift Current provincial court. James's next appearance is set for June 19.
James, 62, was sentenced to more than five years in prison for repeated sexual assaults against ex-NHL players Theoren Fleury, Sheldon Kennedy and three other players he coached in junior hockey in the 1980s and 1990s.
