A man and three teenage boys have been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 26-year-old Regina man on the weekend.

The four accused appeared briefly in provincial court Monday morning where matters were adjourned.

After getting a call about an injured man, police arrived at an address on the 700 block of Garnet St. in the North Central area Saturday at about 1:43 a.m. CST.

They found the injured man, who was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead later in the day.

Police announced the charges Sunday night. It's the city's first homicide of 2016.

The four accused include a man, 22, and three boys, ages 14, 15 and 17.

Police identified the adult as Skylar Blue Alexson. The names of the teens cannot be published under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The man who died has been identified as Joshua Michael Harden, 26.

On Monday, police provided some details on what they think happened. It's believed the male suspects had emerged from a house on Garnet and an altercation occurred between them and Harden.

When Harden collapsed, the males allegedly fled back into the house.  Police located the four as well as five females in the house and took them into custody.

The females were released without being charged.
