Death of woman, 24, on Sask. First Nation called 'suspicious'

RCMP in Pelican Narrows, Sask. have called the death of a 24-year-old woman suspicious.

Officers responded to reports of an unresponsive woman at a home at the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation in northeast Saskatchewan at around 1:35 p.m CST on Saturday afternoon.

Local EMT declared the woman dead at the scene.

RCMP Major Crime Unit North from Saskatoon and Pelican Narrows RCMP continue to investigate. Forensic Identification Services from Prince Albert and the Office of the Chief Coroner are also involved in the investigation.

The investigation is still in the early stages and police will release more details as they become available.
