Death of boy, 14, probed by Regina police, coroner

Police in Regina have launched an investigation looking into the death of a boy, 14, who was found in a creek in the city's east end Wednesday.

Police in Regina have launched an investigation looking into the death of a boy, 14, who was found in a creek in the city's east end Wednesday.

According to police, emergency crews were sent to the area of Fines Drive and Coleman Crescent responding to a call about a person, possibly dead, in the creek.

Police said EMS attempted to revive the youth and transported him to hospital but he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:30 p.m. CST.

An eyewitness told CBC she watched paramedics perform CPR on the boy after he was pulled from the creek.  

The youth has been identified and his family has been notified of his death. 

Police are working on the case in conjunction with the provincial coroner.
