The third-party provider of the on-line reservation system for Saskatchewan's provincial parks has almost finished processing refunds associated with a recent billing glitch that saw campers being over-billed.

The company is also covering the expense of hundreds of compensation cheques of $100 for people's inconvenience.

Officials said Thursday that the company providing the web service for Saskatchewan's Reserve-a-Site had processed 1,524 refunds. Those people used the online booking site in early March only to discover their credit cards were billed multiple times.

The government promised to reverse the billing errors and provide $100 to each household affected.

The compensation will be paid by the service provider, officials said, so that no tax dollars would be spent in that regard.

Officials said the company was still working on fixing the bills for three clients. Those people were overcharged by about $400 each but the company was having difficulty reaching them to make good on the mistake.
