Love Jazz 2025 will celebrate these truths.

Afro Tribes presents an evening of music and more at the Queensbury Convention Centre on Saturday, Feb. 15, and CBC is a proud sponsor. Love Jazz 2025 is a vibrant celebration of music, culture and connection in commemoration of Black History Month.

Elevate (ELEV8) Music is a dynamic Afrobeats cover band, harmoniously formed in the summer of 2023 with a shared mission to elevate audiences through their soulful melodies. Featuring dedicated musicians including David Shonibare and Joshua Olufemi on keys, Ukeme Abasi-Kokoette on drums and John Olaleke on bass, the band's repertoire spans a vibrant spectrum of African and other popular music. With a commitment to musical excellence, Elevate Music is a rhythmic force that seeks to uplift and inspire through electrifying performances.

Carter Powley is an active freelance saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist, composer/arranger and educator, holding degrees in music composition and education from the University of Regina.

He has shared the stage with artists such as Canadian jazz icon P.J. Perry, Jack Semple, Peter Dyksman, Bob Moyer, Wayne Bergeron, Michael Kaeshammer, Kevin Mohagany, Karen Plato, Jason Marsalis, Ranee Lee, singer/songwriter and Juno nominee Alysha Brilla, and Tower of Power drummer Herman Matthews.

The Chop Shop is a collection of individually active musicians in Regina performing a variety of jazz fusion.

Ola Dada (Supplied by Ola Dada)

Nigerian-born comedian Ola Dada first gained recognition as the runner-up in the 10th annual Canada-wide SiriusXM Top Comic Competition in 2019. Following this, he was featured on CBC's The New Wave of Stand Up (Season 1, 2020), appeared on Canada's Got Talent (2022), performed at a Just For Laughs gala on Crave TV alongside Patton Oswalt (2022). He also made appearances at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and CBC's The Debaters in 2023. His debut comedy album, DADA PLAN (2022), released with 604 Records, was a hit and he recently released his first comedy special, UNLIMITED DADA, through Cottage Country Comedy. Known for his fun, light-hearted humor, Ola draws material from his personal life experiences.
