The 19-year-old Regina man charged with impaired driving causing the death of Tanner Kaufmann has been granted bail.

On Thursday, a provincial court judge set bail for Colby Heid at $1,000.

Under the terms of his release, he's banned from driving, is prohibited from drinking alcohol and must obey a curfew.

Heid is alleged to have collided with Kaufmann's truck on a rural road north of Regina on Sunday afternoon, killing the 37-year-old married father of two.

A friend of the victim, David Limacher, as well as Kaufmann family, said they do not agree with the judge's decision to grant bail.

"It's an example of why drunk driving is such a problem in Saskatchewan," Limacher said.

Heid is scheduled to be back in court on Oct. 13.
