CBC Saskatchewan welcomes meteorologist Christy Climenhaga
University of Alberta grad hopes to be your window on weather, science news
Weather watchers in Saskatchewan have a new expert to rely on. Christy Climenhaga is on the air and online with CBC Saskatchewan.
Christy comes to Regina from CBC in Yellowknife, after earning a degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Alberta. She started as a meteorologist after winning a national competition to become a forecaster for CBC.
"I'm excited to cover Saskatchewan weather because of the wide range of stories," she says. "Saskatchewan faces extremely active weather in the summer while still experiencing harsh winter weather."
You can catch Christy on CBC television news with Jill Morgan every weeknight at 6 p.m. CST, as well as on CBC Radio throughout the day.
Of course, Christy is online too. Follow her on Twitter: @ChristyCBC and watch for her updates on our Facebook page here.
In addition to covering weather, she also reports on science stories for CBC.
"I love to teach weather, so instead of just reading the forecast I love to explain why things are happening. And if I can make at least one person smile while doing it, I'll be happy."
