CBC's Morning Edition spotlight on Regina's Rosemont neighbourhood
Community Spotlight: get to know Regina's Rosemont neighbourhood
Rosemont is an older neighbourhood in west central Regina. Just north of Dewdney Ave. and west of Lewvan Drive, there are many hidden gems you can find here including bowling, restaurants, schools and lots of bike paths.
[Rosemont is] exactly what you think of when you think of [the word] community, that's where I live.- Tara Shearer
It's a larger neighbourhood as the communities of Rosemont and Mount Royal amalgamated in 1988.
Tara Shearer nominated Rosemont. She's lived here for nine years.
Shearer says she's close to a hardware store, groceries, great restaurants and daycare. "[It's] exactly what you think of when you think of [the word] community, that's where I live," she said.
This week the Morning Edition will introduce you to some of the people and places that make Rosemont a great place to visit or live, including:
- Dave Hall, who serves up the flavours of the Caribbean at the Orr Centre
- Community hangouts Juliana Pizza and Pinocchio Pizza
- The Bolorama Lanes that have been operating since 1961
- Martin Collegiate, in the heart of the neighbourhood
- A pub that looks just like Regina's Taylor Field
