Two people accused of stealing cars from dealerships in Humboldt, Sask., used the online classified site Kijiji to unload the vehicles, police in the rural community said Wednesday.

RCMP have issued arrest warrants for Shauna Bauer, 19, and Jonathon Gobeil, 26, both of Humboldt, 110 kilometres east of Saskatoon.

Police said that on July 23, two people went to two local dealerships and asked to test-drive a car.

In one case, they drove off with a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. In the other, they left with a 2005 Ford Focus.

They did not return the vehicles. Instead, according to police, both cars were promptly advertised and sold on Kijiji. One was bought by someone in Regina; the other went to a buyer in Saskatoon.

The scam didn't quite work out, however.

Police reported Wednesday that both vehicles had been recovered and returned to the dealerships. However, police have yet to apprehend the suspected car thieves.

Police urged anyone with information about the two to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
