Blaine Sanford, 6, who died in ATV incident had 'infectious smile and giggle'
Friend of the family sets up a tribute for Blaine at the local rink in the village of Frontier
The village of Frontier is honouring the life of Blaine Sanford, 6, who died in an ATV crash Friday evening.
The RCMP stated Blaine was operating the ATV, but no other details were released.
A friend of the family, Val Bennett, set up a tribute for Blaine at the local rink. Many members of the community and surrounding area have contributed pictures, hockey jerseys, balloons etc.
I know it was one of those things that was total fluke. It isn't something that could have been prevented- Val Bennett
"It's a way for the community and friends and family to show support to the Sanfords," Bennett said. "And it offers the rest of us a chance to contribute and heal ourselves as well."
Bennett said Blaine played hockey and was a wonderful child.
"He was the happiest, most joy-filled little boy you have ever met. He had the most infectious smile and giggle."
Blaine's three-year-old brother, Rhett, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to Facebook posts by their mother, Rhett suffered a neck injury. He is wearing a halo and remains in hospital.
Bennett said she hopes the boys' parents don't blame themselves.
"What I do know for sure is that [they] are amazing parents and would never put their children in danger in any way. So I know it was one of those things that was total fluke. It isn't something that could have been prevented," Bennett said.
"It was a blink of an eye. Those instances as a parent that we have all had as a parent where we turn our back for one minute and something has happened. It's just that this time it was way more tragic than what anybody should have to go through and most of us ever have had to go through."
