Man accused in Thanksgiving weekend fatal crash released on bail

The man accused in a fatal car crash in Regina on the Thanksgiving long weekend has been granted bail.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. CST on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Police said a car was stopped at the intersection of 25th Avenue and Albert Street when it was hit from behind by another car travelling at a high speed.

The passenger in the front seat of the stopped car was killed. The driver sustained minor injuries.

Brendan Sugar, 28, was charged with a number of offences, including drunk driving causing death.

On Friday morning, he was released from custody on a $1,000 bail.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 3.
