Abandoned puppies finding new homes
Wilson, the puppies and the mother of the pups were rescued by people from the Lestock, Sask., area who noticed a dog shivering in the yard of an abandoned house. The pups were discovered huddled in the basement.
The first of puppies was adopted Friday by Cassandra and Dave Tremblay.
"We're in store for high energy [and] lots of walks," Cassandra Tremblay said. "And we've got a nice big backyard that's nicely fenced. So lots of running and playing."
The Tremblays have named their puppy Winnie, which is the same name the Humane Society gave the mother of the pups.
"There are a lot of angels that helped bring Wilson and his canine family to safety and it's nice to see that there's some more angels coming through the front door today," Lisa Koch, executive director of the Regina Humane Society, said Friday.
Another two pups — named Wolf and Wog — were also adopted on Friday.
Wilson, who has had some surgery already, is expected to be healthy enough for adoption is about six weeks.
