Owners forced from homes by wildfires had to leave furry friends behind
Nearly 6,000 kilograms of pet food have been delivered to northern Saskatchewan communities impacted by the forest fires.
Regina animal relief organization The Pack Project delivered the first 1,500 kilograms to La Loche on Thursday night. Since then the organization has made two more shipments to several other towns to feed pets in the north.
More than 13,000 people from northern Saskatchewan have been evacuated from their homes, and many couldn't bring their pets with them.
The Pack Project said it still needs about 30,000 kilograms of pet food until those evacuees are back in their homes.
The group started a GoFundMe campaign page to work towards that goal. By Monday afternoon, it raised nearly $8,000 of its $10,000 goal.
