$252K Saskatchewan jackpot winner from Ontario
One of the biggest-ever Saskatchewan 50/50 jackpots has been claimed by an Ontario man.
As of 6 a.m. CST Tuesday morning, the $252,087 prize had yet to be claimed, but later in the morning, a winner stepped forward: Denny Charlebois, who's from Manotick in the Ottawa area.
The University of Regina Rams said the 50/50 ticket sale during Grey Cup week raised more than $504,000.
A quarter of the money will go to the Rams football program, while another quarter will be distributed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders to groups and programs around the province.
The jackpot is believed to be a record-setter. In September 2013, a Rams 50/50 winner received $94,902.
The winning ticket number was G-944168.
On Sunday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 45-23 for the Canadian Football League championship.
