24 inmates have COVID-19 at Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert, CSC says

No known active cases among prison staff, Correction Service of Canada says

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is reporting a COVID-19 outbreak at the prison in Prince Albert, Sask.

There are 24 people in custody at Saskatchewan Penitentiary who have tested positive, CSC said.

There are 457 inmates in the medium security unit at the facility where the positive cases are occurring.

CSC said the inmates who tested positive are currently in isolation.

It also said there are no known active cases of COVID-19 among people who work at the facility.
