2 dead following house fire at English River First Nation

Two people pulled from a house fire on Sunday night in a home on the English River First Nation did not survive, RCMP are reporting.

Police are not releasing names of the 24-year-old woman and 10-year-old boy who died.

RCMP said the fire was reported around 11 p.m. CST Sunday. Officers who responded, to a home on Mink Avenue in the community, found a home fully engulfed in flames.

With help from members of the community and the English River fire department, the woman and child were taken out of the house and then to the local health facility where they were pronounced dead.

RCMP said the deceased are both from the community, which is about 400 kilometres north of Prince Albert, Sask.

The fire was under investigation and autopsies have been ordered. RCMP noted the scene was still hot on Monday.
