P.E.I.'s leader-designate Wade MacLauchlan wrapped up an Island-wide series of panel discussions Wednesday night with a meeting in Stratford.

The format of the round tables saw MacLauchlan serving as moderator with invited panellists answering questions and sharing their insights on a particular topic.

The focus of the Stratford meeting was the province's education system. Past topics included young leaders and entrepreneurs and prospering rural communities.

About 100 people attended Wednesday, offering their own opinions and asking questions.

MacLauchlan says the meetings have been about information gathering, not for him to offer promises or solutions.

"In the immediate sense, it is fodder for what could become a policy platform for the party in an election, but in a much broader and important sense, it's to engage people," said MacLauchlan.

"To hear what other people think is important. That's where I am at this stage. And there's an election coming and this is all really important to build up my sense of the population."

Islanders will have to wait for the Liberal policy platform to find out what MacLauchlan's ideas are to improve the province, he says.

And that will be unveiled when an election is called.
