Suzanne Birt won the P.E.I. women's curling championship over Kim Dolan in a tight battle Monday at the Montage Curling Club.

Birt's rink edged Dolan's team by a score of five to four.

Going into the final Monday, Birt only had to win one of two games to take the championship, while 10-time provincial champion Dolan, who had forced a sudden death game, would have had to win both.

Birt, a former world junior champion, will now go on to play at the national tournament, Feb. 20 to 28, in Grande Prairie, Alta.

Six teams took part in the event, five from the Charlottetown Curling Complex and the host club.
