Power restored in eastern Prince Edward Island

Maritime Electric reported weather-related power outages in the eastern area of Prince Edward Island Saturday morning, the result of heavy, wet snow pushing trees onto the lines.

Maritime Electric has finished reconnecting its 850 customers who lost power during Friday's winter storm

Heavy, wet snow from Friday's storm pushed trees down onto the lines, causing outages across the area .

Crews spent Saturday doing repair work in communities in Kings and Queens counties.

Snow ended Saturday morning across the Island, with mainly cloudy conditions and some flurries expected throughout the day.

The wind will be northwest 20 to 30 km/h gusting 40 to 50 km/h and becoming light this afternoon. Temperature will be -2 C.

It will be partly cloudy tonight with the temperature dropping to -6 C. It will become cloudy after midnight with flurries. Winds will become 20 to 30 km/h gusting 40 to 50 km/h overnight.

RCMP are cautioning drivers to drive safely as many roads still had to be cleared.

Traffic is running smoothly on the Confederation Bridge.
