The tail section of a life-size model velociraptor stolen from the yard of a P.E.I. toy shop has been found.

The 1.5 metre dinosaur went missing from the front yard of the Toy Factory in New Glasgow in early June.

Shop owner Dan Viau says someone recently discovered the dinosaur's tail washed up on shore in Darnley, on the North Shore.

The person contacted Viau and sent him a photo.

Viau says the tail is hollow and would have floated. He thinks the rest of the body would have sunk if it had gone into the water.

"I think my son-in-law and I are going to take a little canoe trip around the area and see if we can't do a little investigating," said Viau.

"But it really won't matter much because the legs are going to be badly broken and I do have another one on order from the Philippines. It will be here in late fall."

Viau says he will have more lights and security on the new dinosaur.

He says he's been moved by the interest people have shown in the missing velociraptor.
