Shania Twain will headline a Charlottetown concert this summer, event organizers announced Wednesday.

The Canadian country superstar will perform Aug. 30 at the Charlottetown Events Ground as part of P.E.I.’s 2014 Founders Week festivities.

"I am looking forward to returning to Atlantic Canada after 15 years and playing Charlottetown and P.E.I. for the first time," Twain said. "I'm so excited to participate in this very special anniversary event."

Twain is the world’s best-selling female country artist of all time, with more than 75 million albums sold.

She has multi-platinum album sales in 32 countries, has the eighth-biggest selling album of all time in the U.S. and 18 top 10 songs, eight of which reached #1.

Twain's performance will be part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the 1864 Charlottetown Conference, which led to Canadian Confederation in 1867.

"[It's] a once in a generation opportunity to celebrate the founding of our great country right here in Prince Edward Island where it all began," said Premier Robert Ghiz.

"We are thrilled to welcome one of Canada's all-time greatest superstars, Shania Twain, to help kick off Founders Week, and we invite all Canadians and visitors from around the world to join us in the celebrations."

Tickets go on sale March 7 and range from $89.50 to $179.50.
