Seagulls littering turf in Cornwall
Officials in Cornwall, P.E.I. are trying to figure out how to get rid of hundreds of seagulls that have taken a liking to the artificial turf at the Terry Fox outdoor sporting facility.
'It's been a bit of a challenge.' — dep. mayor Corey Frizzell
The gulls leave behind feathers and droppings that town crews have to clean up before soccer or football games. Deputy mayor Corey Frizzell told CBC News Monday the town is mystified by the attraction of the birds to the fields.
"[They] kind of hang out, loiter around the fields," said Frizzell.
"We have our parks and rec staff trying to come up with a way to get them off there and make sure that they don't come back. And it's been a bit of a challenge thus far. So we're still working on it and trying to come up with a way to get them off there."
The town has purchased a device that helps clear the fields of droppings and feathers. It now needs to find something to scare them away.
